The Segue Foundation, a vital force in the literary and arts community since 1976, is a multifaceted enterprise with the fundamental mission of supporting poets and the most exciting advancements in contemporary poetry. We have labored tirelessly for over 45 years to publish innovative writing, host dynamic cultural events, and champion the best in language.

Segue’s founder James Sherry is fond of repeating, “You can sell a piece of paper for a penny, but if you print a poem on it you can’t give it away.” Despite this anti-economy of negative capability, the Segue Foundation always endeavors to appropriately remunerate the artists with whom we work. Fundraising is an important aspect of our mission because it allows us to give cash to poets.

Your donation also helps fund the publication activities of Roof Books, which releases six new titles each year, and the historic Segue Reading Series, which provides honoraria to dozens of performers a year, pays curators, and employs young writers as supporting staff.
